Announcing our Micah x Jynx Grease Litter December 2, 2021

We have had a busy 48 hours! Jynx started her prelabor on 11/30. We have been anxiously watching and waiting for her to deliver. We had a vet visit 36 hours after her temperature drop on 12/1 and our vet examined her and did some progesterone testing to see where she was at and how soon we needed to get really worried. We gave her until morning to produce a puppy. She finally had her first at 10:45pm. Oh was he ever a big boy at 1.12lbs- no wonder it took so long. Then she produced a pup every 20 min like clockwork. . . and halfway through she had a rest for a couple hours. She then had a longer pause and after 4 1/2 hours produced another large boy. then 20 min later another boy. Then she had another pause. Our poor girl was also exhausted. After calling the vet (second time that day), the vet had us bring her in.

From the first set of xrays we knew that we had 1-4 more pups and an exhausted mama. We took her in to the vet and an Xray showed us one more large pup, high up. This means it would be hours more and the chances of the pup not making it were high. We opted for a C-section. We had one more large boy. Mama was so much better after. She then could focus on her litter.

We had lots of ideas about naming litters but decided we'd let them reveal their own personality. And this one did. We have one little girl- 200 grams smaller than the biggest boy- and about 30-40g smaller than the average sized ones.

Our smallest on the left and biggest on the right

So our little pink girl is very strong and feisty. She is very determined and will not sit back and let the bigger ones push her around. In fact, she pushed the others around. If they have the place she wants to be she kicks them off and takes it. I started calling her Pink Lady because she was a little tough girl. We decided that she named the litter- and we've got a Grease litter.

Boys: Zuko (BIG orange boy), T-Bird (Green), Sonny (blue), Danny (yellow), and Greased Lightening (Grey). Lightening is our big boy who required the c-section. Nothing fast about this boy coming into the world- so we had to name him for encouragement 🙂

Girls: Pink Lady (pink), Rizzo (red), Frenchie (lime), Sandra Dee (purple), Summer Nights (light blue)

Everyone is doing great! A special thanks goes to:

Gigi Strauss - boy did she ever help me get through this and has  been an amazing mentor at all times day and night!

Franklin County Animal Medical Center - They have been a huge help and did a great job.

Kit and Kaitlyn Collver - These two have been an enormous help- taking care of everything so we can focus on puppies and mamas. These kids are an amazing blessing!

Mallory Gimblett for helping us with Grease names.
