Last weekend, we had the opportunity to practice water work for an AKC Spaniel Hunt Test. Fergus, the field spaniel, and Lily Belle, an English Springer Spaniel, practice retrieving a bird on a pond. Aster, the puppy, practices swimming.
The Gateway Upland Hunt Club took a break from flushing birds to work on basic upland skills with their dogs. This past weekend we focused on training the dogs to do quartering. The short video shows how we trained the dogs to quarter.
Yesterday, we had a break in the cold weather and took the opportunity to train at Busch Wildlife. Lily, Raven, and Jynx all worked on send outs and retrieves. Charlie, Jynx’s puppy, was introduced to birds and gunfire. It was a good day.
