Lily Gets CGC and CGCA

Lily holding her CGC and CGCA

RibbonsToday, Lily, our two year old English Springer Spaniel, passed the AKC's evaluation for Canine Good Citizen and Canine Good Citizen Advanced. She was evaluated at Westinn Kennels. Once the paper work is filed with the AKC, she can list her first two titles (Lilybelle, CGC, CGCA). We hope to have Lily compete at the Novice Obedience trials in August 2019.

Lily has participated in Rick Smith's Upland Hunting Seminars and the Gateway Retrieving and Hunt Club. One thing we have noticed is that dogs involved in the dog sports, frequently lack a strong obedience background. In some hunting circles, if the dog comes, stops, and retrieves, the rest doesn't matter much. There is a certain practicality to only training for three or four commands. However, whatever the dog sport, the best results come from a strong obedience background. The Canine Good Citizen can be a start for that obedience background.

Wish us luck as Lily continues to prepare for obedience trails.
